Multiplexes to start screening Padmaavat from Sunday

After shying from screening the movie for three consecutive days, after its country-wide release on January 25, Inox multiplexes across Goa will begin screening Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat from Sunday.

PANJIM: After shying from screening the movie for three consecutive days, after its country-wide release on January 25, Inox multiplexes across Goa will begin screening Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat from Sunday. The first show of Padmaavat (2D) is scheduled at 9am while Padmaavat 3D is at 9.40am.

The booking counter at Panjim Inox confirmed that the movie will be screened across all Inox multiplexes in the capital, Porvorim and Margao from Sunday. “The screening will begin from Sunday. Online bookings have already begun,” said a staffer at the booking counter.

Amidst violent protests across different parts of the country, the Multiplex Association of India had decided that its members will not screen the Deepika Padukone-starrer in Goa, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. While the anti-Padmaavat movement escalated in the three bigger states, the Rajput Karni Sena also created ruckus in places like Bengaluru and Gurugram protesting the film’s screening.

Goa did not witness any law and order situation and many single screen cinema halls in the State, despite the violence in other parts, did screen the movie on Thursday and continued over the next few days.

Police sources told Herald that they are keeping a watch on the situation even as there is no intelligence report indicating a law and order problem. “Our police personnel will keep a watch outside the cinema halls and multiplexes to ensure that there is no law and order problem. Patrolling will be carried out,” the officer said.
