VASCO: India’s first domestic cruise service between Mumbai and Goa will commence from September this year. The first trial run of the cruise vessel ‘Angriya’ was held successfully on Thursday as it arrived with 40-odd guests at Mormugao Port.
The cruise vessel owned by Sea Eagle Cruises had set sail from Mumbai on Wednesday evening. The vessel can accommodate 350 passengers.
Ship owner Captain Nitin Dhond said, “It was my dream to start Mumbai-Goa cruise service and the same was finally fulfilled when I purchased the 19-year-old Japan-made ship and converted it into cruise vessel. We got help from all the quarters, both Mumbai and Goa ports besides DG Shipping and finally the cruise vessel came today on its first voyage to Goa as part of trial run”.
“The difference in this cruise service will be the experience. In India, we did not have cruise liner, which could be used as short cruise between Goa and Mumbai where people can get at least a day’s experience at sea in a cruise vessel. This cruise ship would be depicting the history of the west coast and its ecology. At the same time guests would get cruise experience as we offer all amenities such as infinity pool, spa, bars, restaurants, 24-hour coffee shop etc.”
