Union Roads, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday stated the work on Mumbai-Goa highway has started and the project will be completed by March 2019.
“We want to complete the entire road by March next year except a tunnel at Kashadi Ghat in Maharashtra,” Gadkari said, speaking to reporters.
He said, “The highway would not only be an engineering marvel but will also provide a scenic drive for the people and I appeal to all to come forward and plant trees along the highways.”
The Union Minister added, “We will give ready trees of eight years old to plant along the Goa highways. Green highways are needed in Goa. I have also spoken to former Maharashtra Chief Minister Rane who has assured to take up the tree planting in Sindhudurg,” he added.
