MARCEL, JULY 2
BJP leader Gopinath Munde has ridiculed the Goa police for their inability to locate the missing former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco in connection with the death of Nadia Torrado.
Munde was speaking at the BJP meeting at Khadpaband-Ponda to protest against the price hike in petroleum products.
He alleged that the State Government was well aware of the whereabouts of the missing former minister.
“Do you think the State police or the Home Department is unaware of his (Mickky Pacheco’s) hideouts? Can anyone believe this? This is very strange and I hope people will take note of it”, said Munde.
”This is the right time to show the Government that you are not happy by not electing the person who has just joined the Congress. The price rise should become the reason for his downfall”, said Munde, while reacting to Vishwajit Rane’s entry into the Congress.
“His defeat will prove that the people have reacted to the price rise”, said Munde.
Holding the UPA Government responsible for the rise in inflation, Munde urged people to voluntarily support the call given by the BJP for a nationwide strike against price rise on July 5.
In his address, Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar said the price rise was evident when the Congress was in power. “Congress is solely responsible for inflation which has touched double digits and they are nothing but liars”, Parrikar said.
North Goa MP Shripad Naik said it would be difficult for the common man to survive with rising inflation and accused Congress of corruption, which had led to the price rise.
Shiroda MLA Mahadeve Naik said they would launch a drive against bogus entries among voters in Shiroda constituency.
“There are over 400 bogus entries in Shiroda constituency and I along with supporters will see to it that these bogus entries are removed. People also should check their names in the electoral rolls”, said Naik.
