Municipalities should be guided by Act on construction licenses: CM

Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has said the Municipal Councils should be guided by the Goa Municipalities Act while in the matter of issuing construction licenses.
He made this statement when newsmen drew his attention that Municipal elected representatives are not taken into confidence by the Chief Officer and the Technical section while issuing the licenses.
Initially, the Chief Minister said that once the process of issuing licenses is streamlined, he would come to know who is to be blamed and who needs to be held accountable when something goes wrong. “I have asked for a systematic procedure for the issuance of construction licenses”, he said.
When newsmen pressed him to reply on the charge by the Chairperson and Councilors that they are ignored by the Chief Officer at the time of issuing licenses, the Chief Minister said “The Civic body ought to go by the provisions of the Municipalities Act while issuing the licenses”.
