PANJIM: The mastermind behind the brutal Siolim double murder, Rovina Lobo, had purchased the murder weapons three days before she executed the crime with co-accused Subhan Rajyaballi.
The two koitas, purchased at Rs 300 each, were used to kill Marta Lobo (64) and Vera Lobo (62) on Sunday night. Sources told Herald that the owner of the shop from where the weapons were purchased has been questioned.
“About 3-4 days before the two accused murdered the elderly women, Rovina had visited a shop to purchase the murder weapons. Each of these had cost her Rs 300. The investigation team has questioned the shop owner and if required, he will be summoned again,” a police official revealed. The weapons have been attached for investigation
Rovina, aged 29 years and Subhan (20) are currently undergoing custodial interrogation while the two victims were buried on Tuesday in the presence of close family members. The funeral, sources said, was carried out after a post mortem on the bodies at Goa Medical College.
Subhan, who has also confessed to have abetted the crime, was promised Rs 30,000 by Rovina. Sources said that the daily-wager from Karnataka, who has been living with his 17-year-old brother in Goa for the last two years, had planned to spend Rs 10,000 in Goa and to send the remaining amount to his parents living at their native village.
His brother, Anjuna Police said, was unaware about the crime until his older brother’s arrest.
Julio Lobo, husband of the main accused and complainant, is likely to depose before the local police on Wednesday.
The statement of their seven-year-old daughter, the crucial witness in the case, was recorded by the Child Welfare Committee on Tuesday.
“The minor saw the crime happening in front of her eyes. On the fateful night, she rushed to her neighbours informing that her mother was beating their aunts. Julio was not in the house at that time,” the source revealed.
