VASCO: After two years of Covid-19 pandemic, the Mormugao citizens are celebrating Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav with zeal by installing `Murgaoncha Raja’ (lord Ganesh) at Sada.

This year, the `Murgaoncha Raja’ has been decorated and themed with artificial waterfalls at various locations inside the pandal with the idol being placed at the centre with revolving effigies of Lord Shankar and Parvati, parents of lord Ganesh.

The devotees visiting the pandal to take darshan have to pass through an ankle-deep artificially made water stream ensuring that the legs of the devotees are cleaned and washed before they proceed near the idol to offer prayers and seek blessings.

One of the organisers, Suraj alias Balan Chodankar said that the `Murgaoncha Raja’ is the most favourite Ganesh Mandal in Sada drawing hundreds of devotees daily from across the State. He said that there is enthusiasm among the organisers since the festival is celebrated on a grand scale after two years without any Covid-19 restrictions.
