PONDA/MARGAO: Musical chairs have started in village panchayats as in three separate incidents, a sarpanch was ousted, another faced no-trust notice and a deputy sarpanch was elected on Monday.
Curti-Khandepar sarpanch Naved Tehsildar was ousted by a non-confidence noticed tabled by six panchayat members during a special meeting.
When the motion was put to vote, seven panchayat members voted in favour of the motion and one opposed. Only eight panchas out of 11 panchas attended the special meeting.
The no-confidence notice was signed by six panchas namely Abijeet Gaude, Harish Naik, Wilma Pareira, Manish Naik, Sajida Amjad Sayed and Sanjana Naik but another panch member Bika Kerkar supported the motion.
No-trust notice tabled against Adpai-Agapur Sarpanch
Four panchayat members of Adpai-Agapur panchayat on Monday tabled a no-confidence notice against sarpanch ShipraAdpaikar.
The notice signed by panchas Deepa Naik, Shivadas Gaude, Chandan Naik and Babu Naik was submitted to the Ponda Block Development Officer (BDO), requesting him to convene a special meeting of the panchayat to discuss the no-confidence notice.
Natasha Dias elected Aquem-Baixo deputy sarpanch
Natasha Dias was on Monday elected deputy sarpanch of Aquem-Baixo village panchayat.
Six panchas Milind Salunke, Pooja Naik, Ramdas Usgaonkar, Pradeep Acharya, Inacio Dias and Natasha Dias were present while, sarpanch Avinash Sardesai, and panchas Amisha Tilve and Floriano Fernandes abstained.
The deputy sarpanch’s post had fallen vacant after the ouster of Amisha Tilve by a no-confidence motion.
Alexander Afonso from the Salcete BDO was the presiding officer for the election.
