PONDA: It seems like the Curti-Khandepar Village Panchayat is playing a game of musical chairs over the sarpanch’s position as in four and half years eight panchas have grabbed the post and is still in counting.
On Tuesday, Bhika Kerkar, who was elected as sarpanch just three and half months ago, on December 15, 2021 faced a no confidence motion from six out of eleven panchas.
Similarly, the same six panchas also gave a no confidence motion notice against Deputy Sarpanch Sharmila Sangaonkar. So far, Curti-Khandepar Panchayat saw eight sarpanchas taking charge in four and half years.
Panchas who signed the no confidence motion against sarpanch and deputy include Daid Naik, Rukma Khandeparkar, Gurudas Khedekar, Shravani Gaude, Shailesh Shet and Santan Fernandes.
The notice is submitted to Ponda BDO and Panchayat Secretary.
It may be recalled, the musical chairs’ game is going on in this panchayat since panchayat elections held in 2017. So far, eight sarpanchas enjoyed the post and the locals were criticising for “playing the musical chairs’ game” alleging that the development work was halted due to frequent change of sarpanch.
