MARGAO: The musical group ‘Save Tiracol/Carmona, Save Goa’ will hold a musical protest near the Margao municipal building on Sunday at 11 am.
Group convenor Sudeep Dalvi stated, “We will protest the government’s intention of regularising all land-related illegalities as well as Raheja’s dirty tricks in Carmona. The musical warriors spearheading the ‘Save Carmona, Save Goa’ campaign have extended an open invitation to ex-Environment Minister Alina Saldanha to come to the fold of social activists, leaving behind politics, BJP membership and the MLA’s seat. We invite her to sing a song with us in protest. That will be the real beginning of her struggle against the forces her husband fought.”
Dalvi added, “Politics is antithesis of social service. An activist fighting on the streets is ten times more useful to the nation than a potbellied politician sitting in the Assembly.”
Carmona Village Social Welfare Forum president Socorro Miranda, United Goans Foundation secretary Avinash Tavares, Benaulim Civic and Social Forum vice president Jose Rodrigues, Cansaulim Villagers’ Action Committee president Anthony Silva and other organizations have extended their support to the musical protest.
