Muslim brethren celebrate Eid-al-Fitr with fervent and joy; ends Ramadan fast

Muslims across the state gathered at the Holy Masjid on Thursday to offer namaz on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr. As Goa celebrates Eid al-Fitr, hundreds of Muslim brethren are seen praying to Allah and seeking goodwill for their families and community as they end their Ramadan fast.

Eid al-Fitr is a celebration which marks the end of Ramadan as Goa celebrates the festival on April 11th. Muslims will not only celebrate the end of fasting but will also thank Allah for the help and strength they were given throughout Ramadan. On Eid day, Muslims wake up early and go to a special prayer at a nearby mosque. After the prayer, they hug and greet each other by saying “Eid Mubarak,” which means “Blessed Eid.” 

The holy prayer echoed across Goa as all the Muslims prayed with devotion and joy. As the Muslim brethren commence the day with Namaz, one devotee from Bhoma said, “Today we read the holy Namaz and we feel extremely delighted and happy.  Everyone came here to celebrate and being with everyone our Idgah was full of love and prayer. In this Eid, we want to give all our wishes to all our Muslim brethren in Goa and India.” 

The Eid-al-Fitr festival echoes through the air as the world commemorates the festival with the ushering of the crescent moon. Eid is being widely celebrated across India on April 11th. While Muslims worldwide spotted the crescent moon on April 9th. In India, a few regions namely Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir were able to see the crescent moon and consequently, the festival was celebrated on April 10th. The rest of the nation celebrates it today, April 11th with much pomp and enthusiasm.
