PANJIM: Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has assured to simplify the mutation process in what he terms will be a major revolution in the department while also clearing the backlog of thousands of cases within three months.
“People have been complaining for years that mutation process is not complete. We are simplifying the process as this will bring a revolution in the Revenue Department. It will be ensured that the process is completed within three months with or without objections,” he said. The department has also eased the process of paying challans towards sale deed and excluding involvement of third person between buyer and seller. “All formalities will be done at sub-registrar office by following proper steps,” the minister added.
Referring to nearly 9000 mutation cases pending before both the collectorates, Khaunte proposed a drive from May-July to clear the backlog.
“The pending cases will be taken on fast-track. We will carry out a three-month drive to clear all the mutation cases. The concerned taluka offices have already been instructed,” he stated adding that the government is ready to work on Saturdays.
The government also intends to bring Court Case Monitoring System to maintain online logs of all court cases in various Revenue Courts with roznama and details of cases, along with dates for appearance. The initiative is to help monitor and reduce pendency of cases.
In a major decision, the minister said that Mahiti Ghars would be shut in the coming days in view of a slew of allegations of corruption. “It is a serious issue. It will be shut,” he said declining to divulge details.
