Muthalik’s entry banned for 60 days

Muthalik was banned from entering the South District by the district magistrate earlier too.

MARGAO: In an order issued by the South Goa District Magistrate, Chief of Sri Ram Sene Pramod Muthalik has been prohibited from entering the South District for 60 days.  

Recently, Srinet Kothwale, District Magistrate, South Goa issued the order and stated that there are sufficient grounds for proceeding under section 144 of Cr. PC 1973 to prohibit members of Sri Ram Sene, and its leader Pramod Muthalik from entering into the jurisdiction of the South Goa District and making aggressive statements and comments which could hurt the communal feeling of groups and lead to violence which may result in serious law and order problems. 

Muthalik was banned from entering the South District by the district magistrate earlier too. 

A report dated April 18, 2014, was prepared by the Superintendent of Police, South Goa, requesting action against Muthalik, who is a founder and Chief of Sri Ram Sene, the order stated. 

The recent report of the police authorities dated September 27, 2022 states that fear of disturbance of the communal peace and harmony in the state of Goa is not ruled out in case of entry of Muthalik and his member associates into the South district. 

“It is apprehended that his communal speeches will promote enmity among various religious communities and will be prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, public peace and safety,” the report further stated. 

Satisfied with the reports District Magistrate has issued this order banning Muthalik for 60 days with effect from September 30.
