PONDA: The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Usgao Range Forest official, Darajit Naik, has intensified as he remains missing since June 11. Naik, a resident of Nageshi Ponda, was last seen in Miramar on July 11, raising questions about the circumstances of his visit and subsequent disappearance.
His car was found in the Tourism Corporation complex in Miramar, leading his family to suspect that he may have been kidnapped. Sources reveal that before he vanished on the night of July 11, he made a final call to his wife, stating his intention to drop their daughter off at school in the morning after taking a walk in the residential area of the Forest Department.
The Ponda Police are currently investigating the reasons for his visit to Panjim and the events that unfolded thereafter. Surveillance footage indicates that Naik was seen talking on the phone at 12:20 am on the same night he disappeared.
Naik had left home on July 11, informing his family that he would be staying at a cottage that night and returning the following morning to drop off their daughter. However, he never returned, and after two days of unavailability, his family lodged a police complaint at Ponda Police on July 13.
Known as an honest and diligent officer, Darajit Naik’s disappearance has left the community in shock.
