PANJIM: Mystery surrounds the death of a taxi driver Jayesh Chodankar from Chinchwada-Chimbel who was killed by a speeding vehicle minutes after his abduction and assault.

The family members on Sunday went to the Old Goa police station and claimed that Jayesh did not die in the accident and alleged that he was murdered and refused to take possession of the body.

According to the family members, Jayesh had heated arguments with two persons at Patto-Ribandar, where he was assaulted and later killed by a speeding vehicle.

The incident occurred on the night of July 5 as per the complaint filed by Jayesh’s friend Pascoal Cardozo of Chimbel. In his complaint to the Old Goa police, Cardozo has stated that two persons namely Krupesh Volvoikar of Salvador do Mundo and Pritesh Adonkar of Chimbel allegedly abducted, abused and assaulted Jayesh and also warned him of dire consequences.

The old Goa police have registered a case against Volvoikar and Adkonkar in this connection and PSI Veronica Coutinho is conducting investigations.
