PANJIM: After lending over Rs 188 crore loans for the current financial year, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is set to disburse a loan in excess of Rs 250 crore to the State government by March 31, 2021.
In a press statement issued, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development general manager Usha Ramesh said that National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned loans worth Rs188.20 crore for the State government during FY 2020-21.
She said that considering additional requirements of the State during the year, added sanctions to the tune of Rs 162 crore are in the pipeline.
Similarly, as against the disbursement target of Rs 150 crore, Rs 135 crore has already been disbursed and we are likely to disburse in excess of Rs 250 crore by March 31, Ramesh said.
The Officer informed that Rs 103.16 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) are also being sanctioned to the State government for various social infrastructure projects in the State.
Ramesh stated that Rural Infrastructure Development Fund was introduced with the sole objective of giving low cost funding support to State governments and State-owned corporations for quick completion of projects related to medium and minor irrigation, soil conservation and other forms of rural/social infrastructure.
The social infrastructure created out of the projects sanctioned to sewerage, bio digester toilets, drinking water distribution projects, primary health centres, etc. in the State would definitely help not only improve the standard of living of the people in the State but would also contribute to Prime Ministers ‘ Swachh Bharat Mission’, she maintained.
