“The State government is looking for an alternative for the post of AG and has shortlisted some names. I have moved a file (proposing) that Nadkarni continue as AG until his successor is appointed,” Parsekar said.
Nadkarni had submitted his resignation to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha on Monday.
Reacting to Nadkarni’s recent statement that he was not consulted by the government on the amendment to Trees Preservation Act that declassified coconut from the status of a tree, Parsekar justified that not all the files are moved to the AG.
“The government decides which file has to be referred to the AG (Nadkarni was holding the charge when the amendment was moved in the House in March). Various departments are involved on every issue,” he said.
