VALPOI: Nagargao Panchayat was on Sunday informed that the bio-diversity register for the village has been completed and it would be kept open for the public for their suggestions and views.
The gram sabha was attended by around 20 villagers and all seven panchas.
“After listening to the villagers’ views and suggestions on bio-diversity register, we will make the changes,” Panch Parag Khadilkar said.
It was also informed at the meeting that the panchayat has started the door-to-door garbage collection in the village.
“We have discussed the garbage collection tax with the Director of Panchayats and he has told us that the panchayat has the right to levy tax for collecting garbage door to door every day,” Sarpanch Prashant Marathe said.
“The panchayat will first fix the tax rate and thereafter we will convene a special gram sabha to discuss the tax rate with the villagers. After the discussion, we will fix the door to door garbage collection tax rate,” Marathe added.
