MARGAO: As a step towards transparency and user convenience, the village panchayat of Nagoa launched their app-friendly website ‘Digital-Nagoa’ at a special function held to celebrate its Silver Jubilee- the completion of 25 years of its formation on Tuesday.
The celebrations began with the Eucharistic Mass in the morning by Fr Edson Fernandes, followed by litany and felicitation of the citizens who fought all odds to form the panchayat in 1996, under the leadership of late Francisco Simon Cabral, the then Chairman of the Nagoa Citizen Committee.
Jose Gilbert Fernandes, Irineu Gonsalves, Rev Fr Victor Viegas, Savio Pinto, late Francisco Valadares, Laxman Rivonkar, as well as Socorro Carvalho, the first Sarpanch of Nagoa and John Philip Pereira, for all-round concerns, were felicitated at the event, in the presence of Nuvem Zilla Panchayat member Assusiana Roma, Sarpanch of Verna panchayat Nazia Amita D’Costa, and President of Pax of Nagoa Sports Club, Ravindra Cabral.
Gabrial Fernandes, Sarpanch of Nagoa said that as the world becomes increasingly digital in its social networking, the panchayat has introduced the newly developed website with some additional features for the people of the village.
“We appeal to people of Nagoa to use this website-platform; and utilise its services optimally. This is one of our steps towards the transparency of Digital-Nagoa,” he said.
The website will provide all the information regarding the panchayat facilities and government schemes, along with details and forms, he added.
The website is linked to the important websites of the Goa government, and it will also help the villagers pay their panchayat taxes such as house tax, trade tax, migrant tax, etc. Villagers can also pay all utility bills through the website, said Fernandes.
