Nagoa VP commission bio-gas plant of 1 TPD

Will help tackle approx 1000kg wet waste every day, says sarpanch

MARGAO: Setting a perfect example, Village Panchayat Nagao on the day of Gandhi Jayanti commenced its bio-gas plant of 1 TPD on Sunday. Panchayat body has expressed hopes that this plant will surely help them to get rid of the waste generated in the village on a daily basis. 

Prassidh Naik, Deputy Director of Panchayats in the presence of Sidesh Kerkar, Block Development Officer, Fr Edson Fernandes, Parish Priest Nagao, Gabrial Fernandes, sarpanch and others inaugurated the plant. 

Addressing the gathering deputy director of panchayat appreciated the hard efforts of the panchayat and said through this initiative Village Panchayat of Nagao can be a best role model for other panchayats in future. 

“Nagao panchayat is one of the few panchayats from the State who has taken their waste management very seriously”, he stated. 

Sarpanch Gabrial Fernandes said that this plant will help the village to tackle approx 1000kg wet waste of the whole every day; in return the plant will generate bio-gas which will be used to produce electricity and run the plant. 

“It’s a great way to tackle the bio waste”, he informed. 

Panch member Anjil Godinho said the panchayat body is very much serious on the issue and more initiatives will be followed in the near future. 

Meanwhile, guests present at the function also inaugurated the installation of CCTV cameras at the major entry points in the jurisdiction of Nagao panchayat. 

“This will help to check on any anti-social activities in the area. It is a phase wise project and second CCTV cameras will be installed at the major junctions in the village”, informed Anjil.
