Margao: A detailed presentation of the woes affecting Nagoa village due to the irregularities of the 20 point housing programme in the village was made with the panchayat calling on the government to check how 1,800 contract labourers are living in unhygienic conditions .
Nagoa Panch member Anzil Godinho explained several discrepancies with the plan where plots allotted to people have been sold against the prescribe rules and thus leading to a situation where 6 people are sharing one of the many rooms in a single plot.
Villagers further rued how the village is suffering from water shortage and power fluctuations as all of the water and power supply is being consumed by the surplus residents due to the flawed 20 point hosuing programme.
The gram sabha demanded that those who do not have permission to stay at the plots should vacate the premsies and the original allottees should be questioned as to how they have allowed such irregularities to take place and thus taking advantage and defeating the purpose of the housing programme
Godinho added that this has been a long pending issue with the village and has been raised with several of the government departments in the past.
