BICHOLIM: Bicholim police on Tuesday arrested one Bhagwan Das alias Abdul, a native of Nagpur, for his alleged involvement in kidnapping of a child in front of his grandfather on Saturday.
On the tipoff, Bicholim police went to Nagpur and arrested the accused.
The victim’s family runs a pan masala shop in Bicholim market. On Saturday late evening, after eating a pan from the shop, the accused requested the child’s grandfather to allow him to take the child to a nearby shop to buy sweets for the child. Pleased with the request, the grandfather allowed him to take the child to a nearby shop.
However, when the suspect failed to return with the child for more than one hour, the grandfather suspected a foul play and started searching for the child but in vain. He subsequently lodged a police complaint late in the night.
Following the complaint, police traced the accused to Nagpur and arrested him.
