PANJIM: A mining lease holder, who last week accused former Congress Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane and his MLA son Vishwajit Rane of trying to extort money from him, to award a mining lease, deposed before the Special Investigation Team Wednesday.
B Naik was issued summons late on Tuesday by SIT’s K K Vyas, who is probing the illegal mining scam.
Naik shocked journalists when he made the accusation at Congress state headquarters during a press conference, in the presence of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President John Fernandes that he paid Rs 6 crore to then health minister Vishwajit Rane and was asked for Rs 10 crore by senior Rane.
]The Ranes have rubbished the allegations and threatened to file defamation case against Naik.
