Narayana Murthy Gifts Infosys Shares Worth Rs 240 Crore to 4-Month-Old Grandson Ekagrah Rohan Murty

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has bestowed upon his four-month-old grandson, Ekagrah Rohan Murty, a princely gift of 15 lakh shares in the esteemed tech company, Infosys. This move, recently disclosed in regulatory filings, equates to a staggering value exceeding Rs 240 crore.

The transfer, executed through an off-market transaction on Friday, represents 0.04 per cent of Infosys’ overall stake. Consequently, Narayana Murthy’s personal holdings in the company have experienced a minor reduction, now resting at 0.36 per cent.

Following this substantial share transfer, Ekagrah Rohan Murty’s net worth is estimated to have surged significantly, with Infosys shares closing at Rs 1,602.30 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). As a result, the infant now stands to inherit a substantial fortune of approximately Rs 2,403,450,000.

Ekagrah Rohan Murty, child of Rohan Murty, son of Narayana Murthy, and his wife Aparna Krishnan, was born on November 10 in Bengaluru. Notably, Ekagrah marks the third grandchild for Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy, who recently took office as a Rajya Sabha MP.

The Murthy family’s connection to Infosys doesn’t stop there. Akshata Murty, Narayana Murthy’s daughter, and her husband, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, have two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka. Akshata Murty herself held a notable 1.05 per cent stake in Infosys as of the December quarter’s conclusion, while Sudha Murthy owned 0.93 per cent, and Rohan Murty possessed 1.64 per cent.
