Anjuna Police conducted a successful narcotics raid on the early morning of March 15, 2024. Acting on specific and reliable information received the previous night at 11:15 PM, a police team led by LPSI Sneha Sawal, along with PC-7993 Dipesh Chodankar, PC-7030 Abhishek Kasar, PC-8368 Krishan Bugde, and PC-7534 Aniket Pednekar, swung into action.
The intelligence suggested that a suspected individual was transporting drugs concealed within a Grey Activa scooter to deliver them to prospective customers at Zor Waddo, Anjuna, Bardez, Goa, between 1:15 AM to 1:30 AM on March 15, 2024.
The raid, conducted between 1:25 AM to 3:40 AM, resulted in the apprehension of Ali Azam Sarkar, aged 26, hailing from Anjuna, Bardez, Goa, but originally from Panitara, Basanti, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. Sarkar was found in possession of 05.80 grams of pinkish-colored tablets suspected to be Ecstasy, a psychotropic drug with an estimated value of Rs. 1,10,000/-. The seizure was conducted under the NDPS Act 1985, following all mandatory procedures.
A case has been registered at the Anjuna Police Station under Cr. No. 34/2024, under section 22(b) of the NDPS Act. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing under the supervision of Prashal P. N. Dessai, PI, Anjuna P.S., Vishwesh Karpe, SDPO Mapusa, and Akshat Kaushal (IPS), SP North Porvorim. The accused individual was arrested at 5:30 AM on March 15, 2024. LPSI Sneha Sawal of Anjuna P.S. continues to lead the investigation.
