QUEPEM: An accident took place at Sonfator-Curchorem, a few metres away from Tilamol junction, when a two-wheeler fell into a pothole.
The rider and the pillion were senior citizens. The pillion, who was the spouse of the rider, fell down on the road and injured her leg in the process.
Fortunately they escaped from sustaining grievous injuries as a car, which was coming from behind, stopped at the right moment.
Locals also said that the road near Sonfator bus stop has become dangerous for the commuters due to the digging done for civic works.
Instead of hotmixing the road with tar, it was filled with mud. Due to the heavy rainfall for the past couple of days, the mud got washed away in rain water. Already, there have been multiple minor accidents at the same spot and it has become more dangerous to travel on this road stretch during rains, as it is difficult to spot pit filled with rain water, villagers said.
After this incident, the locals protested by planting saplings in the pit, demanding that this pit should be filled as soon as possible.
Also, the locals have demanded from Public Works Department officials to fill the potholes that have been created on the road as soon as possible, otherwise someone may lose his or her life.
