National Investigation Agency Mumbai team raids Popular Front of India member’s residence at Sada, Mormugao

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Mumbai raided the residence of a prominent active member of the Popular Front of India in Sada, Mormugao during the wee hours of Thursday. The raid of which at least 20 to 30 officials of NIA were a part, began at 3 am and ended at 10 am the same morning.

The police have searched the house of a prominent member of the Popular Front of India. Sources informed that there are no arrests made in this raid, however, material for investigation was recovered from the residence of the PFI Member.

The raid is a part of a countrywide operation across 13 states – including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam – to crack down on suspected terror-funding activities. At least 105 arrests have been made so far starting from Thursday morning.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant had pitched for a country-wide ban on PFI. However, it may be the end game for PFI as the NIA executes a mega crackdown on the organisation.
