MARGAO: Goa is going to soon be a bridge between the relations between Brazil and India with the first ever Brazilian Cultural Center in Goa (BCCG). The center will be inaugurated at the Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim at 5 pm on March 17 by Consul General of Brazil in Mumbai, Ms Rosimar da Silva Suzano.
College Principal Dr Simão Diniz, Director of the BCCG – Brazilian Cultural Centre in Goa Dr Aurobindo Xavier addressed the Press on Thursday.
The 3rd Lusofonia Festival Goa 2017 has been going on in Goa from the February 17 and will conclude on March 18. The BCCG center will be inaugurated as a part of this fest. After the inauguration, a musical programme will be presented by both Goan as well as Brazilian artists.
Ms Suzano will also unveil a photo of the Brazilian Poetess Cecília Meireles.
Cecília Meireles (Rio de Janeiro 1901-1964) visited Goa in 1953, when the Instituto Vasco da Gama in Panjim conferred her the title of Honorary Member.
Dr Xavier told that the center is planned to be a bridge between the several similarities in culture, traditions, culinary and other facets of Goa and Brazil. “Goa will become the entry point for Brazil to India for not just cultural but also academic, social, business and others too” Xavier said.
Fr Diniz said that they are proud and are looking up to the center at their college.
