MARGAO: Navelim panchayat, in collaboration with the South Goa district administration, launched an e-governance system of issuing certificates to locals. The locals will be able to get divergence, caste, income, children of freedom fighters, form 1 and 14, residence and character certificates at a quicker pace.
Salcete Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar stated that under the system, an applicant will get a message on his mobile phone when he has applied and another when his certificate is ready.
The e-governance system will soon cover the panchayats of Telaulim, Varca, Davorlim, Nagoa and a part of Cuncolim. After inaugurating the service on Thursday, Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado congratulated the Navelim panchayat and urged it to have a master plan for the village to tap Central funds for the village’s development.
When asked about the garbage management issues in the constituency, he stated, “For the effective resolution of the garbage issue, the panchayat needs to look at sourcing in Central funds. We have a crunch presently, but the garbage issue will be solved soon.”
