MARGAO:The Navelim gram sabha on Sunday constituted the Road and Traffic Safety Management Committee, even as members underlined to need to use the underground subway to ease traffic congestion on the National highway.
At the meeting, shifting of bus shelter in front of church along the highway was also objected by the shopkeepers of the complex situated near four road junction. The body was empowered to take necessary action in the matter.
The panchayat secretary informed the gram sabha members that resolution taken by gram sabha not to give occupancy certificate for occupants at a project at Nagmodem have been rejected by the panchayat body.
The gram sabha members were informed that the panchayat body after going through the file verified that project had all the necessary approvals from concerned authorities, including filling the water body.
Gram sabha member Furtado said it was not proper/right on the part of gram sabha to obstruct giving occupancy to the project after it was completed as there had been no objection from majority when the project was approved.
The gram sabha was also informed that a notice has been send to BSNL company asking to produce permissions granted by the competent authorities to install the mobile tower which has been objected by gram sabha.
