MARGAO: Stating that the BJP government has concern to the people of Goa, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Friday said that a new power sub-station at Navelim will be commissioned in next few days, as he inaugurated two transformers at Ravora and Fradilem, Navelim.
Addressing the gathering in the presence of Zilla Panchayat member Ulhas Tuenkar, Edwin Cardozo, Sarpanch and panchas of Village panchayat Navelim Cabral also said that due to increase in material rates very few are sending quoatations for the tenders issued by the power department.
“The underground power cabling works in Navelim constituency have been struck due to Covid pandemic. However, this work will commence in the next few days”, he said.
The Power Minister said the government doesn’t want to trouble the citizens with regard to providing services.
“We are trying hard to improve the power supply. In the last six months the rates of the materials has increased a lot and hence very few contractors are coming forward to quote the tenders issued by the department. The power department can provide good supply and services but the people also need to support the government”, he stated.
Cabral further said that in the recent times nearly 10 transformers have been commissioned in the Navelim constituency itself. A new power sub-station will be inaugurated by the end of October or in the beginning of November, Cabral added.
