Navelim underground power cabling project approved: Min

Cabral says file is pending for EFC approval and needs to be followed up with CS

MARGAO: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Thursday informed that his office has already given administrative approval for Rs 65 crore underground power cabling project in the Navelim Constituency.  

Power Minister on Thursday inaugurated four transformers in Navelim constituency at Davorlim, Aquem Baixo, Talaulim, and Navelim in the presence of MLA Luizinho Faleiro. He said the file pertaining to underground power cabling is pending for EFC approval and needs to be followed up with the Chief Secretary. 

“I also request MLA to do the follow-up of the file. I have already given administrative approval for the project and it will be tendered. However, EFC has to be done for the project above Rs 22 crore”, he stated. 

Cabral said, “A new sub-station will be inaugurated in Navelim very soon. Besides, works pertaining to changing of wires and poles will be tendered very soon.” 

MLA Luizinho Faleiro requested the Power Minister to expedite the sanctioning process of the underground power cabling in the Navelim constituency. He thanked Cabral for sanctioning various power infrastructure enhancement works in Navelim. 

The MLA recognised the hard work and sacrifice of over 100 field employees who worked tirelessly in all the five village panchayats of Navelim, Aquem-Baixo, Telaulim, Davorlim, and Rumdamol Housing Board during the Cyclone Tauktae.
