This is the second drowning incident within a week at the same site. A few days before an IRB policeman drowned in the river.
According to Ponda police, the incident took place at about 3 pm on Sunday, when Prajyoth Pundalik Shirodkar (20) a car technician working at the Verna Industrial Estate had gone to Kodar river along with his friends on a picnic. While they were in the water there, Prajyoth drowned and disappeared into the water. His friends tried to rescue him and immediately informed the police and fire personnel.
Despite efforts to trace him, his body could not be traced till late Sunday. On Monday evening at around 3 pm his body was located and fished out of the river.
