MARGAO: The Navelim Civic and Consumer Forum in collaboration with Navelim Xetkarancho Ekvott and Navelim for Goa Forum on Monday demanded with the concerned authorities to stop releasing of sewage into Salpem Tollem fields immediately and initiate action against the person involved in polluting the fields.
Various groups along with villagers have also objected to the height of the underpass of the western bypass passing through the village.
It is pertinent to note that the villagers are fighting against the above issues for the last many years, and the authorities failed to take serious note in order to resolve it.
Addressing the gathering, Antonio Alvares explained in detail the issue pertaining to the underpass of western bypass, and the present status of the case pending before the High Court in this regard.
“It is for sure that the height of the underpass will certainly affect the people not only from Navelim but also from Benaulim. The student community will be badly affected,” he claimed.
In his address, Fr Gabriel Coutinho appealed to the people of Navelim to unite and fight against the wrong deeds done by the authorities, so that they rectify it.
