The Flag officer commanding Goa Area (FOGA), Rear Admiral Puneet Bhal on Wednesday assured that likewise this year the Indian Navy will provide full cooperation to the local fishermen community performing Tulsi Vivah rituals and for the annual feast celebration at Grande Island which is in the possession of Indian Navy.
“People of Goa will get 100 per cent cooperation from our side for such religious functions at Grande Island and let me assure that Navy has taken very proactive steps on the issue along with the other state government agencies,” Rear Admiral Puneet Bhal said.
“Since there is restricted access to the Grande Island, we only wanted to know the number of people intending to visit the island for prayers and worship. Secondly, we wanted police deployment at the site during such entry to the island,” he said.
“This year, all these issues were very well-coordinated and things passed off peacefully. From next year, similar coordination will continue so that people can get access to religious activity which they hold annually at the island,”Rear Admiral Puneet Bhal informed.
