PANJIM: Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) President John Nazareth on Thursday tendered his resignation as President and member of the working committee of association. The resignation is yet to be accepted.
Speaking to Herald, Nazareth said, “The association with all members has called for a meeting tomorrow to discuss the issue. Despite working for the welfare of the government employees, some disgruntled elements have attempted to malign my fair image and that is the main reason I have resigned.”
He said the resignation was following a report in a regional language newspaper giving ‘misleading’ information. “The report was about a meeting at which I had raised points regarding some pending bills as they were not submitted and the General Secretary had taken the responsibility of settling the pending bills. I have not taken any money from the association,” Nazareth said.
In his resignation letter to the General Secretary, Nazareth stated, “I request you to kindly accept my resignation and take action against the culprit who has attempted to damage my fair image and fair image of the association.”
