PANJIM: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Goa on Wednesday destroyed 36.54 kgs of drugs, seized over last few years. The NCB used the M/s Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt Ltd for the purpose.
The huge quantity of drugs included ganja (28.397 kgs), charas (7.682 kgs), cocaine (0.451 grams) and MDMA (11.82 grams) seized from various parts of Goa during the raids from 2011 year.
“This is NCB Goa’s first disposal of the seized drugs. The drugs destroyed on Wednesday were seized in five cases. In three cases registered in 2011, 2013 and 2017, the trials have concluded while the remaining two FIRs of 2022 year are under trial,” an officer told Herald.
The officer explained that the disposal of the drugs have been conducted in the presence of Regular Drug Disposal Committee and by following procedure laid down under Section 52A of the NDPS Act, 1985.
“In other cases, the seized drugs are either in the custody of the court or with the NCB under strict vigil. We maintain sample evidence, inventory and the other mandatory primary requirements in cases where the seized drugs are destroyed during the trial procedure,” he said.
