NCC DG to visit State

Director General of NCC Lt Gen Raj Kumar Karwal, SM, VSM, is arriving in Goa on Wednesday.
General Karwal will visit 1 Goa Battalion NCC, Goa at Shanta Building at 8 am where he will be received by Commanding officer of 1 Goa Battalion NCC, Col Feroz Patel and Group Commander, Belgaum Group Col J S Rawat.
Later, the General will be presented with a guard of honour by NCC cadets and briefed by Col Patel on the activities of the Corps in the State. General will also visit the 1 Goa Girls Battalion NCC and 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC at Bambolim.
An alumnus of NDA, Pune, General Karwal was commissioned into the Rajput Regiment in December 1970 and participated in the 1971 war in the eastern theatre.
The General has wide ranging experience of various high profile command, staff and instructional appointments. He commanded his battalion and then a Rashtriya Rifles Sector in intense counter insurgency area in JK.
For his outstanding devotion to duty, the General was awarded the Sena Medal and Bar to Sena Medal. The General has commanded a Rapid Infantry Division in a strike corps. On staff, he has served as Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, Director at Army HQ and ADG (B) at HQ DG NCC besides having raised the Human Rights Cell in Army HQ, Delhi.
General Karwal has the distinction of serving as Military Advisor to Republic of Seychelles, where he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service. He has also served as Military Advisor in Pakistan during the crucial period of Operation Parakram.
