D’Souza questioned why Urban Development Minister Milind Naik has not come and supported the municipality workers. Is he not aware about the non-payment of salary issue? He further opined that the MMC workers are very important people and if they continue their strike, the garbage will start piling up in the port town and then the municipal authorities will be held responsible and blamed for the sorry state of the affairs.

NCP Minority Cell President Nasir Khan said that the NCP leaders will support and sit along with the MMC workers if their demands are not fulfilled.

He said, “When the higher ranking municipal staff is getting salary then why the ground staff is deprived of their salary and perks.”
