GPCC General Secretary Vijay Sardessai has said that the NCP is working in collusion with the BJP to disturb the Congress government in Goa.
He wondered how the Congress is expected to run a coalition government when the coalition partner is hell bent on disturbing the government and supported the stand of the 10 Congress MLAs that either the status quo is maintained or the state should go to the polls.
The GPCC general secretary said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has resolved to keep out tainted politicians out of power across the country and said that Goa cannot be an exception. “We cannot have double standards and we expect the Congress leadership in GOa to be brave. The Chief Minister should take a firm stand as majority of the Cabinet Ministers have found it difficult to digest the manipulation and pressure tactics of the government”, he added.
Blaming the NCP for the present political crisis in Goa, he said the NCP seems to be disturbed after two of its Ministers showed their closeness and friendship with colleagues in the Congress party. “The NCP, it appears, does not want its people to have good relations with the Congress. I don’t think any coalition is workable when a person who is out to disturb the government also wants to be part of the government”, he added.
Saying he himself was a victim of NCP’s collusion with the BJP in the past, Sardesai recalled how the then NCP Fatorda block president, after projecting herself as a candidate, rebelled and contested the Assembly polls from Fatorda. “The NCP leadership did nothing to stop the block president from contesting the polls against the Congress candidate. This clearly shows that the NCP is working in collusion with the BJP in Goa to disturb the Congress”, he asserted.
