PANJIM: The Congress party on Monday enrolled former chairman of NCP Minority Cell, Nazir Khan, from Vasco, in the party along with his supporters as a part of ongoing digital membership.
Congress President Girish Chodankar claimed that with the growing support of people of Goa they will easily get majority with 23-26 seats in the Assembly elections while. “After the results of the last assembly election, desperate BJP didn’t respect the mandate of people and encouraged defection to gain power. Knowing this and by posing trust in Congress the people will now not give any opportunity to BJP to further ruin our state,” said Chodankar.
“Many people are interested in joining Congress during our ongoing membership drive. Our present Mantra is ‘join Congress’, for which we are getting a good response,” Chodankar said.
He said that some sections of society are pained by ‘dadagiri’ of BJP, who resort to suppressing the voice of people.
“Joining of such people in Congress will help us to fight against the atrocities of BJP,” Chodankar added.
Later speaking, Sankalp Amonkar said that this time there is no scope for divisive politics of BJP as people are aware about their tactics. “In Mormugao we are getting good support and we will not allow BJP to split our votes,” he said.
