MAPUSA: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Sanjay Barde on Wednesday said that similar to how the government is taking willingness from parents to send their children to schools, it should also give in writing that number of COVID cases will not increase in the State.
“If willingness can be taken from parents for their children to attend regular classes at schools and higher secondary schools, similarly we demand written assurance from Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant that COVID cases will not increase in the State and government will take responsibility for the people of Goa,” Barde demanded.
“We are expecting second wave of COVID and several States are going for re-lockdown and have cleared their SOPs to tackle COVID but till now our State government has not cleared its stand on COVID,” he added.
“Following announcement of SOP by Maharashtra government that every outsider should carry a negative certificate, Goa government should use existing testing facility and provide negative certificate instead of asking Goans to visit private hospitals and testing centres,” Barde said.
