PANJIM: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena to contest 24 seats together. NCP, on Thursday named eight candidates. They have declared 12 names so far for the Goa Assembly elections. Its ally Shiv Sena will also contest 12 seats. Shiv Sena which had earlier named 11 candidates will field Bhakti Khadapkar from Cortalim constituency.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday named eight more candidates for the Goa Assembly elections scheduled on February 14.
Filipe Nery Rodrigues, who resigned as Minister and from primary membership of Bharatiya Janata Party was allotted ticket for Velim while, former Minister Mickky Pacheco has been fielded from Nuvem.
The other candidates are Godfrey D’Lima from Tivim, Adv Shankar Phadte from Porvorim, Estevan D’Souza from St Andre, Ravindra Talaulikar from Marcaim, Aloysious D’Silva from Quepem and Domacio Barreto from Sanguem.
Earlier, Filipe Nery Rodrigues joined the NCP in the presence of party’s national general secretary Goa incharge Praful Patel and others.
After joining the NCP, Filipe Nery said that nobody should have doubt about him contesting on NCP ticket. “People were doubting when I proposed to contest as an independent that I will again rejoin the BJP. So in order to clear this doubt and prove that under what circumstances we had joined BJP, this is the right party which my supporters have chosen.”
