VASCO: Nationalist Congress Party Goa to field candidates in all forty constituencies of Goa for forthcoming 2022 Assembly elections.
“NCP is building its party strength in Goa by contacting people. Many well known faces, who will join NCP, will be revealed shortly,” said Goa NCP chief Jose Phillip D’Souza.
The NCP president, at a press briefing on Wednesday, said that a block committee for Nuvem constituency was formed with Francis, alias Franky D’Mello, officially appointed as Block president.
“Likewise we will form block committees in all constituencies. We are well prepared for the forthcoming 2022 Assembly Elections. We are making our Goa base strong. Many new and known faces will join NCP soon,” he added.
He further declared that the party will also have a coordination committee which will be in the forefront in having talks with other parties and report about the ground situation to the higher leadership. Commenting about D’Mello, D’Souza said that Franky has been very active in Nuvem and in touch with the people. He (Franky) was given the responsibility by taking many criteria into consideration the NCP president said.
D’Souza declined to disclose the names of those who will join the party. “It is too early to divulge the names. We have been approached by many well known politicians and other aspirants. We will reveal the names at the right time,” D’Souza added.
“We have made our preparations to contest the election. We were dependent on others before but today many are approaching us to join our party,” D’Souza said on speaking about alliance.
Later, speaking to the reporters, NCP’s Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao said that NCP has been in touch with many people and just because of Covid-19 pandemic the movement of the party had slowed down but soon ‘it will start in full swing.’ “
“We are in touch with people from all constituencies and talukas to make NCP stronger in Goa,” Churchill said.
The Benaulim MLA said that during the last hustings allotting tickets to candidates was done in a hurry. “This time we are content and clear, therefore we have been approached by many aspirants. NCP party will give tickets to the candidates seeing their winnability factor in all forty constituencies,” Churchill added.
According to an official NCP letter, beside Franky, the five-member Nuvem block committee comprised Mario Cruz Pereira Vice block president, Stanza Evone Simoes Secretary, Jolan D’Silva Treasurer and Roston Agnelo Goes.
