PANJIM: Goa Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik on Sunday accused the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to control the states through Niti Ayog which was formed replacing the Planning Commission.
Addressing a gathering after paying homage to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Shantaram Naik said “The Modi-led government had completely eradicated the Planning Commission replacing Niti Ayog. The main aim of Niti Ayog was to make sure that they go to the states and dictate to the chief ministers on what they should do.”
“Niti Ayog has been given massive powers which were never given to the Planning Commission and no chief ministers from BJP-run states have guts to go against the dictate of Niti Ayog” said Naik.
Meanwhile, the MP also took a dig at the Modi government for its policies, including that of Make in India.
“The Make in India policy has remained just on paper. In reality, there are hardly any foreign firms which have shifted their facilities to India. Modi who is also aiming to make a Congress-mukt Bharat should be exposed before the people,” he added.
