Nearly 50% seats in engineering, technical education vacant: CM

Asks teachers to help students in choosing career

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has conceded that nearly 50 per cent seats in the engineering or technical education are vacant while suggesting teachers help students in deciding their career of choice. 

“Almost 50 per cent of seats in engineering or technical education are vacant since last few years. What should we do in this kind of situation? Teachers should guide children in respect to their career after Class 10th or 12th.  They should help in creating interest in students towards these fields. This kind of initiatives are necessary,”  he said while speaking at the concluding function of two-week long pre orientation and orientation training sessions of coding and robotics education in schools scheme, on Saturday. 

He further said that the State should see revolution in digitalisation as he reposed faith that many technocrats will be created in Goa.

Goa College of Engineering hosted this 2 weeks Master Trainers Training Program for 35 computer teachers in two sessions. For the first week this training was held in the virtual mode and in person training was provided for the second week. Participants were taught different aspects of modern technology. These master trainers will further train another 540 teachers across Goa.
