MARGAO: On the occasion of World Labour Day, Food Bank and Street Providence managed to distribute food to nearly 5,000 people, who are mostly engaged in daily wages at different municipalities of the state of Goa.
At Margao they distributed food to hundreds of Margao Municipal Council workers and pledged to serve more and more people.
Speaking to the reporters Sapnesh Salgaonkar from Street Providence, said that his organisation is on a mission to provide food for the needy.
“We have been in the social service for the last several years. As a part of our services and on the occasion of the World Labour Day, it was decided to distribute food to nearly 5,000 workers engaged at different municipalities of Goa,” Salgaonkar informed.
John Baptist, another official of the organization said that they attempted to feed nearly five thousand impoverished people across Goa within two hours.
Appreciating the efforts, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said that food is one of the basic necessities of the human being and working towards providing food to the needy people is a great service to the society.
