PONDA: Repair works on Nanus to Ganjem, Usgao road has begun after locals protested negligence and delay by planting tree branches at road. The workers were seen busy in repairing the road that was lying in worst condition for almost a year.
The road was dug to lay water pipeline in March 2021 to supply raw water from Ganjem Bandara to OPA Treatment Plant at Khandepar. However, according to locals the road, which was in worst condition, was neglected even after completion of pipeline work. The locals faced huge hardship during rainy season commuting on the road as it turned muddy and slippery and was lying in worst condition for around one year. Reportedly, there were bike accidents while riding on slippery road.
The local also raised the issue in Usgao–Ganjem panchayat gram sabha recently and warned to stage agitation. The locals in protest against delay in repair and restoration work had planted branches of trees at roadside to attract the attention of PWD. Finally, it worked in their favour as PWD has started the due repairs works.
