PANJIM: The State government on Monday informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it needs three weeks to review and finalise the draft tender policy for digital taxi meters.
The High Court is monitoring implementation of digital meters in tourist taxis in Goa over a petition filed by Travel and Tourism Association of Goa and had asked the government to submit a report on the progress over the installation of digital taxi meters.
“The government today reported to the court that Goa Electronics Limited (GEL), who would be floating the tender on behalf of the government, has sent them a draft of how the tender is going to be. The government today said that they would require at least 3 to 4 weeks to finalise the draft tender policy,” the TTAG advocate said.
The matter has been kept for January 15, 2018 for a further progress report in the taxi meters installation matter.
TTAG, supported by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and other stakeholders had moved the court in February alleging that government was illegally and unconstitutionally keeping in abeyance the implementation and sought directions for its immediate enforcement.
