Environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar stressed the need to declare the Goa section of Western Ghats as a UNESCO Heritage site and notify Mhadei as a tiger reserve to protect the ecosystem and biodiversity.
He was speaking before the Save Mhadei Save Goa motorcycle rally to support notifying the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary as Tiger Reserve and save River Mhadei from getting diverted to Karnataka. The rally started from Village Panchayat Corgao to Dhargal Village Panchayat. and will continue via Querim – Arambol Agarwada Road.
